From Harrogate, North Yorkshire, Anna graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2009 with a First Class BA (Hons) in 3D Design, having specialised in ceramics.
Anna’s fascination in the marks of erosion and an on-going exploration of tactile objects fuels her ceramic practice.
Returning to Harrogate, her practice has evolved from growing up in the region and spending time outdoors. From scrambling over rocks in the Dales to scouring the beach for fossils near Whitby, these experiences can be seen echoed in her work.
Work is slab-built and press-moulded. Oxides are applied to add depth to textures in the naked clay whilst bright barium blue glaze pools in dips and recesses, creating a striking visual and tactile contrast.
Working from her studio in Harrogate, Anna exhibits widely, including: Three Yorkshire Ceramicists, Pyramid Gallery, York, Art in Clay, Hertfordshire, Potfest in the Park, Cumbria and Ceramics in The City, London.
Stoneware vessels, £25 – £120.
