From Bedfordshire, Miche studied BA(Hons) Ceramic Design at Central St Martins, London, graduating in 2012. She was consequently awarded a full scholarship to study for an MA in Ceramics and Glass at the Royal College of Art, London, where she graduated in 2016.
Inspired by my love affair with collage, alongside text, printing and painting, together with the overlaying of multiple surfaces, this current body of work uses urban landscapes to inspire contemporary works. The interplay between surface and form, the ways in which colours text and imagery exist side by side provide infinite ways of how processes can be transformed into rich, visceral and personally expressive individual statements.
Intuitive mark making, lithography and clay manipulation, combined with careful deliberation on familiar form, provides a satisfying making process; allowing for the spontaneous to sit beside the considered. This builds an exciting visual language open to personal interpretation. The use of overfired terracotta clay is representative of the grubby brickwork and rooftops of urban areas. Using slips, stains oxides and printing, endless possibilities allow personal freedom and expression.
Since 2016 she has been a full time artist, working from her Bedfordshire studio, where she also teaches part time. She exhibits at Ceramic shows around the UK.
