Ciara is from Co. Waterford, Ireland.  Following a Degree in Art History from University College, Dublin, she concentrated fully on her art practise, taking an Advanced Life Drawing Module at Crawford College, Cork in 2013/14 and receiving 1st Class (Hons).  She was also a member of the Turps Mentorship Programme in 2022/2023.

Ciara is a painter who explores the relationship between colours, light, figuration and abstraction.

I work on several paintings simultaneously in the studio, with one body of work leading naturally to the next. Drawing plays an essential role in my work with pencil lines often evident in paintings.

I try to paint the way I experience scenes, the way light and colours are constantly shifting, to capture that movement in the painting, the way different details catch your eye and also to give shape to the things that are felt and not necessarily seen.

Ciara works from her studio in Co. Waterford.  She recently completed a residency in France with the Hambly & Hambly Gallery.  She was awarded an Artlinks Bursary by Waterford County Council over 5 consecutive years from 2016, who also awarded her a 2nd Residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre in 2019.  She exhibits regularly in both solo and group  exhibitions in Ireland and the U.K.
