Audrey (b.1959) grew up in a village on the west coast of Cumbria. After an Art Foundation Course at Carlisle, she studied Fine Art Painting at the Central School of Art and Design, London, graduating with BA Hons, 1st class in 1981.
After graduating she settled in North London and for many years, worked in the applied arts for the BBC, mainly as a scenic artist and later as a web designer. She became a full-time artist in 2019.
I’m motivated by my emotional response when I view a potential subject.
I work mainly in oils, but I also love the immediacy of pencil and watercolour sketches, and I’m inspired by line and form, working with shapes, colours, and the effects of light.
My work is intimate and quietly observational, capturing everyday moments with a calm simplicity.
Working from her studio in North London, Audrey has exhibited in numerous places including the Royal Academy of Art, the Royal Scottish Academy, the Society of Women Artists, Royal Society of British Artists and the New English Art Club.
